Diane Stang says: Recent research shows that spatial reasoning and math achievement are so closely linked, so closely linked, in fact, that you cannot identify one part of it without the other. So this is why it’s so important as educators that we really do incorporate spatial reasoning into our program. Now the good news with spatial reasoning is that it is malleable and it can be improved. That’s in adults and children so it’s really important that teachers look at their own spatial reasoning abilities because the research also shows that for teachers who are uncomfortable with spatial reasoning, they tend to give their kids fewer of those kinds of activities. So really, we’ve jam-packed Math Place with many spatial reasoning abilities so the teachers can learn along with the kids.
